Please read this disclaimer carefully before purchasing, downloading, or using any product from 閱與Gem (Yue Yu Gem), available at yueyugem.com and through my authorized sales channels.
1. Educational purpose only
All my products (including but not limited to workbooks, practice sheets, reference charts, and instructional guides, the “Products”) are for general educational and supplementary learning purposes only. They are designed to support early English phonics and literacy development for children within a Science of Reading (SOR) framework, with a bilingual bridge for Mandarin-speaking families.
The Products are not a substitute for:
- A structured classroom literacy curriculum
- Individualized instruction from a certified teacher or reading specialist
- Professional evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment of a learning disability, speech-language delay, dyslexia, or any other developmental or educational condition
If you have concerns about your child’s reading development, speech, or learning progress, please consult a licensed educator, speech-language pathologist, pediatrician, or educational psychologist.
2. No outcome guarantee
Every child develops literacy skills at a different pace, influenced by factors outside my control (home language environment, prior exposure, individual learning differences, frequency of practice, and more). I make no guarantee, express or implied, regarding specific learning outcomes, including but not limited to reading level attainment, grade-level benchmarks, or timeline of progress. Results will vary by child.
3. Parent or guardian supervision required
The Products are designed for use alongside an involved parent or guardian, not as a standalone or unsupervised learning tool. Several activities require an adult to model pronunciation, read prompts aloud, or guide the child through a task. I’m not responsible for outcomes resulting from unsupervised use or use inconsistent with the Products’ intended design.
4. No affiliation with UFLI or third-party frameworks
My curriculum sequencing references publicly available scope-and-sequence concepts consistent with the Science of Reading movement, including frameworks associated with UFLI Foundations (University of Florida Literacy Institute). I’m an independent, unaffiliated business, and I’m not endorsed by, sponsored by, licensed by, or officially affiliated with the University of Florida, UFLI, or any of their representatives. References to UFLI or similar frameworks are for educational context only.
Any other third-party names, trademarks, or brand references that may appear in my materials belong to their respective owners and are used for descriptive or illustrative purposes only, without implying endorsement.
5. Licence: single household or single educator only
When you buy a Product, I grant you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to:
- Download and print it for use within your own household (personal, non-commercial use with your own child or children), or
- If you bought an educator/classroom licence (where I explicitly offer one), use it within a single classroom or homeschool co-op as specified at the time of purchase.
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, or share the digital files (in part or in whole) with other individuals, households, schools, or organizations
- Upload the Products to any public or shared platform, cloud drive, or third-party website
- Modify, rebrand, or claim authorship of the Products for resale or public distribution
- Use the Products for any commercial purpose without my prior written permission
Digital files may contain identifying purchase information to protect this licence.
6. Digital product policy
Because the Products are digital, downloadable goods delivered immediately on purchase, all sales are generally final. I give refunds for corrupted files and duplicate purchases, and wherever else the law requires one.
7. No professional, medical, or legal advice
Nothing in my Products, website, or related communications is professional educational, medical, psychological, or legal advice. Any general information I provide (including references to literacy research) is for information only and shouldn’t be relied on as a substitute for consulting a qualified professional.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I (and anyone acting for me) shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or related to the use, misuse, or inability to use the Products, including but not limited to learning outcomes, delays, or dissatisfaction with results.
The Products are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that the law says can’t be excluded.
9. Governing law
This disclaimer and any dispute arising from the purchase or use of my Products are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, as I operate as a sole proprietorship based in California. Consumers living elsewhere keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where they live.

I may update this disclaimer at any time; the date below shows the latest version. Continued use of the Products after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms. See also my Terms of Use.
